Abstract:
The limitations of traditional disinfection protocols in pharmacy intravenous admixture services (PIVASs) render it necessary to develop advanced disinfection strategies to guarantee medication safety. This study introduces an ozone disinfection system incorporated into the upstream section of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system for the purified buffer room of PIVASs. By conducting a comparative analysis of airborne particles, viable airborne bacteria, settled bacteria, and surface microbial loads between conventional areas and the ozone-disinfected buffer room, in conjunction with response surface methodology (RSM) modeling, the results indicate significant benefits of the ozone-integrated buffer room design for PIVAS applications. The optimal disinfection parameters (an ozone concentration of 8 ppm with a 67-minute exposure) effectively enhance the environmental quality of PIVASs, reduce the risks of medication contamination, and offer strong support for the safe operation of PIVAS facilities.

Cleaning
The cleaning process usually involves using water with detergents or enzymatic cleaner and removing foreign material from objects and surfaces, including organic material such as body fluids or inorganic material like soil. Cleaning is performed before high-level disinfection and sterilization because foreign materials on the cover of the devices interfere with process...
