Relapsed thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura and daratumumab utility

Abstract:
Immune thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (iTTP) is a rare and life-threatening medical emergency caused by the lack of activity of the metalloproteinase ADAMTS13. This default causes widespread microthrombi and organ dysfunction, demanding early, aggressive and efficient treatment. First line approach is very successful nowadays if implemented early. Treatment options for refractory cases are still not well defined and of unknown efficiency (results are limited to case reports). This clinical vignette elucidates the therapeutic nuances in a patient with relapsed iTTP and presents Daratumumab as a safe and efficient treatment option.
