Abstract:
The incidence of diabetes is rising globally in large numbers due to genetic factors and dietary habits. Much research has gone into creating a safe and efficient particle drug delivery system for insulin. Polyethylene glycol @ Alginate-Chitosan nanocomposite was prepared using the ionic gelation process. Its diameter was examined using TEM and found to be in the nanometer range, with a spherical shape. FTIR verified that the nanoparticles' carboxylic groups of alginates were connected to chitosan's ammonium groups. The encapsulation efficiency was 96.6 ± 1.8% (n = 3). The DSC and FTIR results of the current study demonstrated that the polymers (PEG, AG, and CS) used in the nanoparticle composition had high charge densities, allowing for a robust interaction with the insulin. The prepared composite controlled the burst release in the gastric pH, where after 5 min, Insulin released from the nanocomposite was approximately 36%. In conclusion, Polyethylene glycol @ Alginate-Chitosan nanocomposite can be used as a suitable carrier that promotes Insulin delivery orally.
