Collaboration with the nursing director led to expanding the Nursing Professional Development (NPD ) Practitioner role from hospital unit to service level. The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practice Model was used to streamline implementation and establish responsibilities. Positive outcomes have occurred through enhanced role definition, expectation, and integration in clinical practice. This transition helped increase education provided across the Medical Surgical service while improving the quality of patient care and NPD Practitioners' job satisfaction.
