Laser Therapy to Manage Oral Myiasis - A Case Report

Myiasis is an uncommon parasitic infestation caused by Diptera larvae that can affect both humans and animals and spread to various body areas. The rarest form of the disease, oral myiasis, is occasionally found in impoverished third-world nations due to poor sanitation facilities and poor hygiene. Having a thorough understanding of this uncommon illness helps with early detection, which reduces morbidity and death. Hereby, we present a case report of a 17-year-old male patient with poor socioeconomic status and neurological impairment who developed oral myiasis because of poor oral hygiene which was treated using a 720 nm diode laser to achieve laser-based de-parasitisation.
