Abstract:
Myofascial complaints are one of the most common causes of pain in the musculoskeletal system and are of great importance in orthopaedic practice. They are usually caused by overload, poor posture, or injuries and manifest themselves as local or radiating pain, which is often difficult to localize. Treatment includes manual techniques, shock wave therapy, physiotherapy, and complementary measures. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) has established itself as an effective, non-invasive method that promotes healing processes and relieves pain. Continuous research, and new therapeutic approaches promise a promising future for the treatment of myofascial complaints in orthopaedics.
