Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To identify psychological factors associated with lipedema syndrome (LS).
  • To explore the link between these factors and the psychological symptomatology experienced by patients.

  • A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative (online questionnaires) and qualitative (oral interviews) data.
  • Utilized validated scales such as the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and body image questionnaires.
  • Included participants with characteristic "easy bruising," specific waist-to-hip ratio, and significant pain levels.

Main Results:

  • Depression levels positively correlated with spontaneous pain and lack of medical understanding.
