Background:
This study aimed to determine the prevalence of Interruption in treatment (IIT) and its risk factors in Katakwi District, Uganda.
Methods:
A cross-sectional study was conducted in three antiretroviral therapy clinics. Poisson generalized estimating equations were used to identify factors associated with interruption in treatment.
Results:
IIT was high at 68.2% and was associated with being aged 25-49, lacking social support from family and friends, being on ART for 0-1 years, and having a non-suppressed viral load. However, lower IIT rates were observed among those living within 5 km of the facility.
Conclusion:
There is a need to strengthen client-tracking systems and client-adherence literacy to reduce this IIT.

Causative Organism
The primary infectious agent causing tuberculosis is Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a slow-growing, acid-fast, aerobic rod that exhibits sensitivity to heat and ultraviolet light. Instances of Mycobacterium bovis and Mycobacterium avium contributing to the development of TB infection are rare.
