Abstract:
Localized amyloidosis of the orbit and adnexa is a rare. This report explores the case of an elderly female diagnosed with orbital heavy chain amyloidosis. A 65-year-old female presented with a painless mass in the supero-temporal orbit, with prior history of kidney transplantation and tuberculosis. Imaging showed a T1-hyperintense and T2-hypointense supero-temporal orbital mass on magnetic resonance imaging. Incisional biopsy revealed amyloid tissue which on tandem mass spectrometry was found to have immunoglobulin heavy chains predominantly. The case was followed up for recurrence. Primary localized amyloidosis without systemic involvement may be closely observed without the need for radiotherapy or chemotherapy.
