[Impact of air pollution on the respiratory system from a One Health perspective]

This article examines, within the framework of the "One Health" approach, the effects of air pollution on the respiratory system. Air pollution is currently the environmental risk factor responsible for the highest rates of morbidity and mortality. Data from the literature indicate that pollution has a major impact on lung cancer, increasing its incidence as well as the risk of developing lung metastases. Pollution also contributes to the development and exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma. Pollution is a widespread problem, and health care providers, including doctors, have an important role to play in limiting its consequences.
