Summary

Acetyl-l-carnitine (ALC) supplementation effectively reduces depression symptoms in major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder patients. ALC shows comparable efficacy to antidepressants with fewer side effects, especially in older adults and those with treatment-resistant depression.
