Background:
Patient satisfaction with nursing care is a key indicator of healthcare quality in burn intensive care units (ICUs). However, limited evidence exists regarding predictors of satisfaction among burn patients in Jordan.
Objective:
The aim of this study was to assess satisfaction with nursing care among burn patients admitted to a burn intensive care unit in Jordan and to identify demographic and clinical predictors associated with satisfaction.
Methods:
A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted between October 2024 and May 2025 in a specialized Burn ICU at a major military hospital in Jordan. Adult burn patients (n = 146) admitted for ≥ 48 h were recruited using convenience sampling. Satisfaction was measured using the Arabic version of the Patient Satisfaction with Nursing Care Quality Questionnaire (PSNCQQ). Independent t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression were used. Significance was set at p < 0.05.
Results:
The mean satisfaction score was 48.88 (SD = 13.83), indicating moderate satisfaction. Higher income was associated with greater satisfaction (B = -6.529, 95% CI: -11.65 to -1.40, p = 0.014). Facial deformity predicted lower satisfaction (B = 7.743, 95% CI: 1.30-14.18, p = 0.019). Age showed a weak but significant correlation (r = -0.173, p = 0.037).
Conclusion:
Satisfaction among burn ICU patients was moderate and influenced by socioeconomic and clinical factors. Targeted psychosocial and communication interventions may improve patient experience in burn critical care settings.
