Successful Treatment of Pediatric Scalp Avulsion with NovoSorb BTM

Abstract:
Traumatic complete scalp avulsions are very rare in the pediatric population. These injuries pose significant surgical challenges that require complex surgical techniques. This report presents the successful treatment of a 14-year-old girl with a complete scalp avulsion, in which a combination of autologous split-thickness skin grafts and the artificial dermal substitute was used. The autologous skin grafts were well integrated in the region of previous calvarial exposure treated with artificial dermal substitute. NovoSorb BTM represents a significant and safe advancement in the treatment of scalp avulsions with exposed bone and extensive defects in the pediatric population.
