Abstract:
Pharmacological therapy remains a cornerstone in the management of glaucoma. The therapeutic spectrum has been broadened by the introduction of new active substances and drug classes, preservative-free topical formulations, fixed combinations, and innovative drug delivery systems. In addition, alternative routes of administration are being investigated, and interventional approaches are increasingly gaining importance as primary treatment options based on emerging clinical evidence. This article provides an overview of current pharmacological therapies, highlighting their clinical relevance for everyday practice.
