Palliative pneumonectomy for incurable sarcoma metastasis

Pulmonary metastasis of sarcomas are common and highly aggressive. Prompt management is crucial to improve outcomes. We report the case of a 40-year-old woman who presented with a 14.2 × 12.1 × 13.8 cm mass in the left lower lobe and multiple right-sided subcentimeter nodules, occurring 21 years after resection of a right thigh spindle cell sarcoma. She underwent a left pneumonectomy as palliative treatment. The postoperative course was uneventful. She remains clinically stable 20 months following surgery without progression of right sided disease.
