Aim And Objective:
To compare and evaluate both clinically and radiographically the effectiveness of four distinct pulpotomy medications in primary molars-mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) gel, Biodentine, TheraCal LC, and MTA putty.
Materials And Methods:
This in vivo investigation involved 60 primary molars from children aged 4-8 years, which were randomly assigned into four groups-group A received MTA gel, group B received Biodentine, group C received TheraCal LC, and group D received MTA putty. Radiographic examinations were carried out prior to treatment, following treatment, and at 6 months, while clinical assessments were carried out at 1, 3, and 6 months. Data normality was explored using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests. Intergroup and intragroup comparisons were done using the Chi-squared test regarding the efficacy of the four materials.
Results:
Clinical and radiographic success of MTA gel (80 and 90%) and MTA putty (80 and 90%) were found to be highest. Although the results of Biodentine (70 and 80%) and TheraCal LC (70 and 80%) were found to be similar.
Conclusion:
Following a 6-month clinical and radiographic evaluation, MTA putty and MTA gel showed the most favorable outcomes, followed by Biodentine and TheraCal LC.
