Background:
Managing nonvital immature teeth with open apices poses clinical challenges, particularly in achieving predictable apical closure.
Aim:
To compare the efficacy of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), Biodentine, and calcium hydroxide in promoting apical closure in nonvital immature anterior teeth.
Materials And Methods:
This randomized controlled trial involved 60 patients aged 8-14 years with nonvital immature maxillary anterior teeth. Participants were divided into three groups: group I-MTA, group II-Biodentine, and group III-calcium hydroxide. Standardized treatment protocols were followed, and radiographic assessments were conducted at baseline, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months to evaluate apical closure.
Results:
Group I (MTA) and group II (Biodentine) demonstrated significantly faster apical closure than group III (calcium hydroxide) (p < 0.05). Biodentine showed superior outcomes in achieving complete root-end closure within 6 months.
Conclusion:
Biodentine is an effective material for promoting faster apical closure in nonvital immature teeth, followed closely by MTA. Calcium hydroxide required a longer duration to achieve comparable results.
