Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma (KHE), a rare childhood vascular tumor, presents unique imaging findings in newborns. Prenatal MRI and postnatal MDCT aid in diagnosing this oral cavity lesion, differentiating it from benign hemangiomas.

Area of Science:

  • Pediatric Oncology
  • Diagnostic Imaging
  • Vascular Malformations

Background:

  • Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma (KHE) is a rare, locally aggressive vascular tumor primarily affecting children.
  • Detailed imaging features of KHE, particularly in neonatal oral cavity lesions, are scarce in medical literature.
  • This case highlights the combined utility of prenatal MRI and postnatal MDCT for diagnosing KHE in an unusual location.
