Background:
Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is one of the most common cancers worldwide. LY6/PLAUR Domain Containing 1 (LYPD1) has been reported to be a potential predictive biomarker in various cancers, but its role in LUAD remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the role of LYPD1 and its molecular mechanisms in LUAD.
Methods:
This study used a suite of bioinformatics tools to analyze the correlations between LYPD1 with clinical parameters, tumor microenvironment (TME) features, and drug sensitivity. The effects of LYPD1 on LUAD cells were detected by cell viability, cell migration, flow cytometry and Western blot assays. Furthermore, the role of LYPD1 in LUAD was verified in a xenograft model.
Results:
The expression of LYPD1 was upregulated in LUAD tissues and associated with the TME parameters. In vitro experiments revealed that LYPD1 promoted the proliferation and migration of LUAD cells. Molecular mechanism results showed that the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway was further activated after LYPD1 overexpression. In vivo, the study confirmed that LYPD1 promoted the development of LUAD tumors in mice.
Conclusions:
This study suggests that LYPD1 plays a tumor-promoting role in LUAD and may serve as a predictive biomarker and a potential therapeutic target for LUAD.
