Abstract:
Biopurification systems on Costa Rican coffee farms effectively degrade pesticides, despite low abundance of organophosphate hydrolase genes (mpd, opd) and no detection of carbamate hydrolase genes (cehA, mcd). These results suggest that removal of these pesticides is supported by other bacterial and fungal pathways, highlighting the potential of broader molecular investigations.
