The disease encompasses a broad spectrum of etiologies, leading to marked heterogeneity in clinical presentation, severity, and progression. Understanding the underlying cause is essential, as it directly influences prognosis and therapeutic decision-making. Medical management represents the cornerstone of treatment and should be individualized according to disease etiology and severity. Core strategies include airway clearance techniques, long-term antibiotic therapy, and optimized management of associated comorbidities.
