Abstract:
Endoscopic laryngopharyngeal surgery (ELPS) has been established as a minimally invasive treatment for superficial laryngopharyngeal cancer. When invasion beyond the subepithelial layer is suspected, the ability to perform tumor resection and the appropriate dissection layer during ELPS must be assessed preoperatively; however, accurate evaluations are challenging. We present a case of hypopharyngeal cancer that invaded subepithelial layers for which an optimal treatment strategy was created using endoscopic ultrasound to evaluate tumor resectability and the appropriate dissection layer.
