Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) alleviate arthritis pain by altering the gut microbiome and increasing short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). Antibiotics reduced NSAID pain relief, suggesting a microbiome-dependent mechanism for these drugs.
