Abstract:
Capillary electrochromatography (CEC) exhibits remarkable potential in chiral separation due to its combination of high efficiency and selectivity; however, to date, individual chiral metal-organic frameworks (CMOFs) or chiral molecularly imprinted polymers (CMIPs) as chiral stationary phases still have limitations, such as insufficient recognition capability and poor stability, which restricts the separation efficiency. To address this, we first identified research gaps via bibliometrics, then prepared a novel CMIP@CMOF (L-tyrosine@CMIP@MIL-101-L-Tyr(Cr)) coated capillary column for CEC separation. Under optimized conditions (pH 7.0, 20 kV, 80 % acetonitrile), the system achieved excellent performance: resolution (Rs) 5.83, selectivity factor (α) 1.33. The synergistic effect between the CMOFs and CMIPs enhanced the separation efficiency of the novel capillary column by 9.5 times compared with the CMOFs-coated capillary column and by 11 times compared with the CMIPs-coated capillary column (Rs = 0.61 for CMOFs; Rs = 0.53 for CMIPs). In summary, this work provides a reliable CEC-based strategy for DL-tyrosine enantioseparation, and presents a feasible approach for the design and preparation of high-performance chiral stationary phases for the potential separation of other amino acids.
