Abstract:
Retinal migraine (RM) is defined according to the International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-3), as "recurrent attacks of monocular visual disturbances, including flashes, scotomas or blindness, that is accompanied or preceded by headache within 60 minutes of the onset of visual symptoms," which are entirely reversible. While most symptoms resolve spontaneously, persistent visual deficits and abnormal ophthalmological findings have been described in some cases. The underlying pathophysiology of these persistent features remains elusive. This case report details a patient with RM who exhibited documented visual field defects on computerized testing.
