A dataset of Vietnamese engineering students' perceptions of career readiness

Abstract:
The engineering workforce plays a crucial role in the context of digital transformation and Industry 4.0. The career readiness of engineering students impacts the quality of the future high-skilled workforce. The dataset was collected to depict the current status of career readiness and related factors among engineering students in Vietnam. Data were gathered through an online survey from December 23, 2025, to January 12, 2026. The participants are engineering students enrolled in higher education institutions in Vietnam. The selection of students was based on a convenience sampling method, and participation was voluntary. A total of 439 valid records were collected and stored in the Mendeley Data repository [1]. The dataset is composed of 49 items covering demographic information (6 items), active learning strategies (8 items), student engagement (12 items), self-efficacy (5 items), skill application (8 items), and career readiness (11 items). This dataset can help higher education institutions fit their engineering curricula to improve career readiness and related factors among students, addressing labor market demands, while also establishing an active learning environment to encourage and motivate learners to enhance their career readiness and related factors.
