Abstract:
Addressing hospital-acquired infections requires the adoption and support of a suitably structured Information System. The Hospital Infection Information System (HIIS) must operate within the hospital's overall information ecosystem. The mission of HIIS is to support the prevention, detection, and response of nosocomial infections. Prevention presupposes the timely implementation of effective measures; detection is confirmed promptly with the aid of laboratory results; response demands interventions in hospital workflows to prevent transmission and specific patients' treatment. The HIIS has limited exposure to end-users, as its main function is to collect all the appropriate medical data in order to support medical decision-making and take the appropriate curing actions. HIIS must be considered as a prerequisite in the contemporary Hospital's integrated digital environment.

Health Information Technology and Healthcare Information System
Health Information Technology, commonly called HIT, integrates advanced information systems and technology in healthcare settings. Its primary functions include:
Nursing Clinical Information System
A Nursing Clinical Information System (NCIS) is a specialized type of healthcare information system tailored to meet the unique needs of nursing practice. It incorporates the principles of nursing informatics to streamline information management and improve the quality of care delivery.
Critical attributes of NCIS include:
Healthcare Associated Infections I: Iatrogenic, Exogenic and Endogenic
HAIs significantly increase the cost of health care. Extended stays in healthcare institutions, increased disability, increased costs of medications, including specialized antibiotics, and prolonged recovery times add to the patient's expenses and the healthcare institution and funding bodies.
