Abstract:
Blood volume impacts the sensitivity of blood culture for diagnosis of bloodstream infection caused by non-fastidious organisms, but its effect on recovery of fastidious organisms is poorly understood. Collecting two Myco/F Lytic bottles, 5 mL of blood each, increased the recovery of fastidious mycobacteria and fungi by 24.1% (7/29).
