Abstract:
A solvent-free Buchwald-Hartwig N-arylation of benzocyclic amines with (hetero)aryl chlorides has been achieved at room temperature using a sterically hindered NHC-Pd catalyst (C4) with low loading (0.05-4 mol%), yielding an array of N-aryl products (79-99%) successfully in 2 h. Gram-scale synthesis and its application in the synthesis of DSSCs demonstrate its practicality. DFT calculations were also carried out to explore the mechanism behind the excellent catalytic performance.
