Hantavirus infection is an emerging zoonotic disease with worldwide relevance, associated with significant morbidity and mortality through hantavirus pulmonary syndrome and hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome. After recent reports, including a cluster of severe cases reported to the World Health Organization in 2026, increasing attention has been directed toward its clinical, pathological, and radiological spectrum. Radiology departments, as one of the most important health care providers involved in imaging for disease confirmation, detection of complications, and assessment of involvement of different body organs, should be familiar with the manifestations of suspected patients, the most appropriate imaging requests, and the precautionary measures required within the department to prevent disease transmission to both health care personnel and other patients undergoing imaging procedures. Therefore, in this review, we aimed to present recent clinical and radiological findings, as well as precautionary interventions that should be implemented in radiology departments.
