T-cell therapy can worsen mitral regurgitation (MR) in patients with prior fenfluramine (FF) use. Careful hemodynamic management allowed safe reinitiation of blinatumomab (BL) therapy in a B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia patient with severe MR.
Area of Science:
- Cardiology
- Oncology
- Pharmacology
Background:
- T-cell therapy (TCT) rarely causes isolated severe valvular pathology.
- Hemodynamic effects of TCT can exacerbate mitral regurgitation (MR) in patients with subtle valvular issues.
- Reversible valvular dysfunction reports in this context are limited.
