    • Digital tools like Google Trends offer novel methods for assessing public interest in dermatologic conditions.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate public interest trends in hyperpigmentation and related terms using Google Trends.
    • To analyze temporal, seasonal, and geographical patterns of public search interest in pigmentary disorders.
    • To understand consumer awareness and information-seeking behaviors regarding skin pigmentation.

    Main Methods:

    • Google Trends data from 2004 to 2025 were analyzed for terms including "hyperpigmentation", "pigmentation", "skin brightening", "brown spots", and "dark spot treatment".
    • Relative Search Volume (RSV) was used to assess normalized search popularity in the US and globally.
    • Temporal trends, seasonal variations, and geographical distributions of search interest were examined.

    Main Results:

    • A sustained global and domestic increase in search interest for pigmentary disorder terms was observed over time.
    • "Pigmentation" and "hyperpigmentation" showed the highest search interest, with a notable spike in "hyperpigmentation" in early 2025.
    • Seasonal peaks for "brown spots" occurred in summer, with highest US interest in southern states. Ghana, Nigeria, and Mauritius showed high global interest.

    Conclusions:

    • Public interest in pigmentary disorders has markedly increased over the last 20 years.
    • Google Trends effectively reveals consumer awareness and information-seeking patterns related to skin pigmentation.
    • Findings can guide public health initiatives and culturally sensitive interventions for affected populations.
