Abstract:
Brugada syndrome is a rare inherited cardiac channelopathy, affecting cardiac sodium channels, with an increased risk of syncopal attacks and arrhythmia. The most commonly related genetic mutation is in the SCN5A gene. Brugada syndrome could be precipitated by various factors, such as fever, electrolyte imbalances, and drugs. Management focuses on avoiding precipitating factors, fever management, and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator placement in high-risk patients. Most pregnancies result in favorable maternal and fetal outcomes, and management of Brugada syndrome during pregnancy requires a multidisciplinary team approach. This narrative review summarizes the pathogenesis, risk factors, precipitating factors, clinical features, diagnosis, management during pregnancy, anesthesia concerns, and maternal and fetal outcomes in Brugada syndrome.
