Summary
This study presents a successful conversion therapy for unresectable intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). A combination of percutaneous portal vein embolization (PVE), surufatinib, sintilimab, and FOLFOX chemotherapy enabled radical resection and long-term disease-free survival.
Area of Science:
- Hepatobiliary Surgery
- Medical Oncology
- Gastroenterology
Background:
- Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is an aggressive liver cancer with poor prognosis.
- Current treatments for unresectable ICC, like gemcitabine plus cisplatin, have limited efficacy.
- Emerging therapies including immunotherapy and targeted treatments offer new avenues for advanced ICC.
