Maternal Satisfaction With Delivery Services and Associated Factors at Public Health Centers in Horro Guduru Wollega...

Maternal satisfaction is a multidimensional concept that encompasses satisfaction between the personal and the physical environment of the delivery room, and it is one indicator of the quality of healthcare. There is a limited study done at health center as a whole Ethiopia and there is no evidence about the problem in this study area. The purpose of this study was to assess the extent of maternal satisfaction with delivery services and related characteristics among mothers who gave birth in the Horro Guduru Wollega Zone public health centers in western Ethiopia in 2024.

An institution-based cross-sectional study design was conducted among 384 participants in selected health centers of Horro Guduru Wollega zones from January 08 to March 09, 2024. Systematic random sampling technique was used, and a tool was prepared using reviewing different literatures. Multivariable logistic regression was used to identify factors associated with maternal satisfaction.

This study shows overall level of maternal satisfaction with delivery services was 45.1% with 95% CI (40.3, 49.2). Moreover, being housewives (AOR = 2.99 CI 1.52, 5.90), waiting health care provider less than 50 min (AOR = 2.31 CI 2.22, 4.38), asking permission before applying any procedures and examination (AOR = 4.44, CI 2.67, 7.39) and pain management during delivery (AOR = 7.27, CI 3.02, 17.48) were factors significantly associated with mothers' satisfaction with care during delivery.

Less than half of mothers were satisfied with skilled delivery services and being a housewife; waiting time, pain management, and asking permission before applying any procedure and examination were factors associated with mother's satisfaction. To raise patient satisfaction, health center administrators and medical staff must provide patient-focused services.
