Innovative use of syringe plunger to secure contrast medium during indirect sinus lift: A technical note

Abstract:
The indirect sinus lift for maxillary sinus augmentation is a common, less invasive solution for placing dental implants. However, the patency of the membrane not to get perforated during the procedure is questionable. A contrast medium, for example, Iohexol, held in the osteotomy site, can be a great guide to ensure membrane integrity. In this technical note, we present an innovative use of the syringe plunger as a stop to hold the contrast media in the osteotomy site in indirect sinus lift procedures.
