A Turkish translation and validation of the child-Centred research checklist (CCR-C)

This study was conducted to translate and validate the Child-Centred Research Checklist (CCR-C), developed to ensure quality and transparency in the development, reporting, and evaluation of child-centred research, into Turkish.

This methodological study was conducted between December 10, 2024, and October 20, 2025. The CCR-C was translated into Turkish using the forward-backward translation method, and expert opinions were obtained to evaluate content validity. The Turkish translation of the CCR-C was then applied to 20 articles by two independent researchers, and inter-rater reliability was assessed.

The Turkish form of CCR-C was found to have high content validity, with Item-Level Content Validity Index and Scale-Level Content Validity Index values above 0.80. A good to excellent level of agreement was found between the two observers at the item level; the calculated Intraclass Correlation Coefficient value for the total score was 0.976 (95% CI: 0.939-0.990, p < 0.001). No significant difference was found between observers (0.00 ± 0.56), and a high level of correlation (0.951) was observed. Bland-Altman analysis and regression results showed no systematic bias between observers and a high level of agreement (B = -0.034, p = 0.656).

The Turkish translation of the CCR-C is a valid and reliable tool for evaluating child-centered research processes.

By promoting standardization in planning, conducting, and reporting of research, the Turkish translation of the CCR-C can be used by researchers, clinicians, and ethics committees to support ethical, child-centered, and methodologically sound practices in research involving children, contributing to developing child-centered research practices in Türkiye.
