Ultrasound and Imaging Findings of Splenic Littoral Cell Angioma in a Child: A Case Report

Splenic littoral cell angioma (LCA) is a rare vascular tumor arising from littoral cells in the splenic red pulp, predominantly affecting adults, with pediatric cases exceedingly rare. An 8-year-old girl was admitted after an incidental left abdominal mass discovery. Ultrasonography revealed a slightly hyperechoic splenic mass (75 × 70 × 70 mm). Contrast-enhanced computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated persistent heterogeneous enhancement, suggesting a benign vascular tumor. Laparoscopic partial splenectomy was performed, and pathology confirmed LCA. At 29-month follow-up, no recurrence or metastasis was evident. Multimodal imaging and intraoperative ultrasound-guided partial splenectomy proved valuable for diagnosis and spleen-preserving management.
