None:
Chronic renal disease (CRD) is a progressive, irreversible loss of renal mass and function, posing a significant health concern. Secondary hyperparathyroidism caused by hypokalcemia in CRD often leads to renal osteodystrophy (ROD), a bone pathology resulting from alterations in mineral metabolism. ROD typically occurs early in renal failure and progresses as kidney function deteriorates. Marked jaw enlargement remains a rare but severe complication of the ROD, causing significant facial disfigurement. This case series highlights the four cases of ROD with extensive orofacial involvement, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and management.

Renal Corpuscle
Glomerulus: Structure and Function
The glomerulus is a tiny, intricate network of capillaries located at the beginning of the nephron. It's enveloped by the Bowman's capsule and receives its blood supply from an afferent arteriole, which divides into numerous capillaries...
Renal Tubule and Collecting Duct
Proximal Convoluted Tubule (PCT):
The PCT is the initial segment of the renal tubule, extending from the Bowman's capsule that encloses the glomerulus. Its convoluted structure and microvilli-lined cells increase the surface area for reabsorption. The PCT reabsorbs glucose, amino acids, sodium, and water from the filtrate, ensuring essential...

Renal Drug Clearance: Overview
Renal clearance can be calculated using different methods. One approach is to divide the urinary drug excretion rate by the plasma drug concentration. This method directly measures renal clearance, indicating the kidneys' efficiency in...
Renal Drug Excretion: Overview
A nephron consists of two primary structures: the renal corpuscle and the renal tubule. The renal corpuscle contains the glomerulus, a network of capillaries where the first step of renal excretion, glomerular filtration, occurs. Blood pressure forces water, ions, and small molecules out...
