Abstract:
Caves are underground, extreme ecosystems harboring diverse microbial communities. This study employed internal transcribed spacer sequencing across four caves and one cave pond-mud sample in the Guánica State Forest to investigate fungal communities. This diversity profile offers a foundation for investigations of fungal populations thriving in Puerto Rican cave systems.
