This study aims to provide a psychometrically sound instrument to measure English classroom teaching enjoyment among Chinese senior high school teachers. To this end, the current researchers developed the English Classroom Teaching Enjoyment Scale by adapting Proietti Ergün and Dewaele's (2021) Foreign Language Teaching Enjoyment Scale into Chinese and then tested it among 518 Chinese senior high school English teachers. The results showed that the English Classroom Teaching Enjoyment Scale had a two-factor structure that differs from the previously adapted versions. It also indicated satisfactory psychometric properties, enabling it to effectively assess the construct of interest. This study provided an alternative way to assess foreign language teaching enjoyment and shed methodological light on the construction of the related instruments in the future. It also holds important implications for enhancing foreign language teachers' well-being and sustainable teaching practice.
