Abstract:
Point-of-care testing (POCT) for infectious diseases, a crucial branch of in vitro diagnostics, has been increasingly pivotal in early disease screening, epidemic surveillance, and public health prevention due to its rapidity, convenience, and efficiency. This article systematically reviews recent innovative advancements in POCT technologies for infectious diseases, encompassing molecular diagnostics, microfluidic systems, biosensing technologies, and artificial intelligence. It also provides an in-depth analysis of the quality assessment system for POCT technologies, covering key indicators such as sensitivity, specificity, detection limit, stability, and field applicability. Special attention is given to the application strategies of POCT technologies in resource-limited settings, including optimizing technical applicability, resource allocation models, and local support systems. Furthermore, the article proposes future development directions for POCT technologies in response to current challenges, aiming to offer theoretical and practical guidance for further research, development, and implementation of POCT technologies for infectious diseases.
