To promote the development of high-efficiency triplet-material-based organic photovoltaics (T-OPVs), five novel platinum-acetylide triplet donor molecules were theoretically designed by modifying the acceptor fragments of the classic "roller-wheel" platinum-acetylide-based small molecule RWPt-2. All molecular properties were systematically evaluated via DFT and TD-DFT theoretical calculations. Structural and IRI analyses revealed that molecule 1 possessed moderate planarity, which balanced charge carrier mobility and intersystem crossing (ISC) efficiency and avoided triplet charge recombination caused by excessive planarity. Acceptor units with moderate electron-withdrawing strength effectively maintained π-electron delocalization and efficient ISC channels. Benefiting from the optimized photophysical properties and suppressed charge recombination, molecule 1 exhibited outstanding comprehensive optoelectronic performance. Theoretical predictions demonstrated that all designed molecules achieved improved power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) and good compatibility with nonfullerene acceptors (NFAs), providing reliable theoretical guidance for the rational design of high-performance T-OPV donors.

Conjugated systems containing an even number of π-electron pairs undergo a conrotatory ring closure. For example, thermal electrocyclization of (2E,4E)-2,4-hexadiene, a conjugated diene containing two π-electron pairs, gives trans-3,4-dimethylcyclobutene.

Similar to cross-metathesis, ADMET also involves the formation of metallacyclobutane intermediate by [2+2] cycloaddition of one of the double bonds of a terminal diene with...

Acidity of 1-Alkynes
The acidic strength of hydrocarbons follows the order: Alkynes > Alkenes > Alkanes. The strength of an acid is commonly expressed in units of pKa — the lower the pKa, the stronger the acid. Among the hydrocarbons, terminal alkynes have lower pKa values and are, therefore, more acidic. For example, the pKa values for ethane, ethene, and acetylene are 51, 44, and 25, respectively, as shown here.
