Abstract:
Imaging plays a major role in hip arthroplasty for both preoperative planning and postoperative evaluation. Radiography remains first-line, while computed tomography with metal artifact reduction (MAR) provides superior assessment of periprosthetic bone and may complement MR imaging in selected cases. MR imaging with MAR sequences is essential for symptomatic patients. A structured, sign-based approach improves diagnostic accuracy by distinguishing normal findings from complications. Systematic evaluation of implant positioning and integrity, bone, fluid, soft tissues, lymph nodes, tendons, and muscles, together with review of prior imaging and clinical aspects, helps prevent diagnostic errors.
