Abstract:
Complex and diverse extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) are the key factors limiting the dewatering efficiency of traditional sludge treatment. This study investigated sludge dewatering performance, as well as the evolution of polarity and spatial structure of EPS under electrochemical treatment. With the assistance of Naive Bayes-Fuzzy Theory (NB-FT), the internal correlations among multiple evaluation indicators were further clarified. The results demonstrated that electrochemical regulation effectively modified the chemical properties and spatial structure of EPS and optimized the microstructure of sludge cake, thereby achieving efficient deep dewatering with a final moisture content (MC) of 47.52%. Electrochemical treatment disrupted protein functional structures in EPS and facilitated the degradation and mineralization of organic components. NB-FT analysis confirmed that the composition and structural characteristics of EPS dominated sludge interfacial properties and water-holding capacity. This study clarifies the core mechanism of electrochemical sludge dewatering and provides theoretical reference and technical support for the engineering application of electrochemical deep dewatering.
