Accelerating antibiotic development from natural products. Natural products with antimicrobial activity can act through multiple mechanisms to overcome antibiotic resistance. These include directly inhibiting bacterial growth, reversing resistance by blocking efflux pumps and disrupting biofilms, and strengthening host defenses.
