Abstract:
Traumatic amputations of the hand require urgent and prolonged microsurgical interventions under optimal anesthetic conditions. Regional anesthesia can offer advantages such as stable hemodynamics, reduced opioid requirement, and avoidance of airway manipulation. This case report presents the successful use of a continuous costoclavicular brachial plexus block as the sole anesthetic technique during a complex 15-hour replantation surgery in a 24-year-old man admitted with a transmetacarpal amputation at flexor zone 3 of his dominant right hand following a high-speed cutting machine injury.
