Proceedings from the 17th Annual University of Calgary Leaders in Medicine Research Symposium

The 17th annual Leaders in Medicine Research Symposium was held in person at the University of Calgary Health Sciences Centre on November 5, 2025. This event is dedicated to student research and collaboration in a range of disciplines and meant to showcase the work done by the joint degree students pursuing both graduate and medical school. The event featured a keynote address by Dr. Aravind Ganesh, titled "Finding goodness and growth while fighting dementia and stroke." Dr. Ganesh is a vascular and cognitive neurologist at the University of Calgary and an alumnus of the Leaders in Medicine program. Over 70 students presented either oral or poster presentations at the symposium, with 10 of those being oral presentations. The presentations covered a range of interdisciplinary fields, such as community health sciences, biomedical engineering, oncology, and physical medicine. Overall, the symposium highlighted the influential research being done by the Leaders in Medicine and medical students at the University of Calgary.
