The endoscopic ipsilateral posterior interhemispheric transprecuneus approach (IPITA) offers a safe and effective surgical option for central neurocytoma in the lateral ventricle. This minimally invasive technique achieved high resection rates and favorable outcomes in a recent study.

  • Total resection was achieved in 11 out of 12 patients; one patient had subtotal resection (STR).
  • Two patients developed postoperative hydrocephalus, managed with shunt or septostomy.
  • No recurrence was observed in 11 patients; one patient with STR recurred after 30 months and received radiotherapy.
  • Conclusions:

    • The endoscopic IPITA is a safe and effective approach for resecting lateral ventricle central neurocytoma.
    • This technique is particularly beneficial for tumors in the posterior lateral ventricle body or involving the trigone.
