Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the influence of three common outdoor dog recreation surface materials (natural grass, stabilized grass, artificial turf) on dog behavior and welfare.
  • To measure surface temperatures and assess surface characteristics under various conditions.

  • Ten dogs participated in structured play sessions on nine experimental plots with randomized surface assignments.
  • Dog behavior was recorded using scan sampling during pre- and post-play periods.
